Hi, I'm Pat. I write and illustrate all the cards for Funeral Balloons.

When a colleague's father died, I had to order flowers from the team. The form had a checkbox to add balloons. I realized that people use humor to cope with loss all the time, but we're stuck with stoic and stuffy options to express our condolences.

Funeral Balloons makes funny sympathy cards for people who know a real laugh beats an empty platitude any day. Warm-ish cards that say the awkward but true things about death and grief. 

The joke is never on the dead. Punchlines are for the living.
